Online Training

The materials needed for the online classes will be e-mailed to the student on Monday. Students must return the answers to the assignments at the end of the chapter to the instructor the following Sunday. The next lesson will not be sent to the student until the instructor receives the assignment for the previous lesson. Students must have access to CPT, ICD-9 or ICD-10 coding manuals (depending on class)  for the coding classes.

There are 3 types of on-line classes available

1. Online Class - Classes consist of an online class and assignment for weeks 1-3 and and the fourth week is the final examination.  To become a Certified Medical Billing Specialist (CMBSTM)  students must be members of the MAB plus successfully complete all 4 classes.  To become a Certified Medical Records Technician (CMRTTM) students must be members of the MAB and successfully complete class 1 and 3.

2. Test-Out Program - If you already possess the knowledge to pass the final exam for any introductory online class you can take the final exam and test out rather than taking the class.  If you are taking a class for certification it does not count for CEUs.  If you are a CMBS you may test out for CEUs.  Please contact our office for more information.

3. Custom Assistant Mentor Program (CAMP) – Do you want to take the MAB online classes but need to take them on your schedule? No problem. CAMP allows the “camper” to take the online class over 4-weeks, rather than 6-weeks, at the time of their choosing. Once your registration is received you will be contacted to choose a start date. CAMP has been designed to pair an experienced medical biller or coder with a less experienced camper. The CAMP counselor (mentor) will take the camper under their wing and assist them in achieving the next level of proficiency. Campers go to CAMP for 4-weeks and have daily email access to their counselor. If campers have specific questions or concerns the counselor will guide the camper in the desired direction. CAMP is customized to the camper’s needs. The cost of the 4-week Custom CAMP is only $309 for members and $359 for non-members. If the Camper is registering for a certification program membership in the MAB is required.
